100% of your donation will be used to help people in need. Administrative costs are covered by the Board of Directors' membership fees. All travel costs for are paid by individuals.
The World Organization for Positive Action (WOPA) believes that it through education that individuals can realize their full potential. For this reason, WOPA works to improve the opportunities of students in need by providing support such as school supplies and scholarships.
2016 Scholarship Recipients
WOPA is proud to have provided scholarships to students at Passaic County Community College for 8 years. WOPA started with 1 recipient and has increased our assistance to up to 8 recipients. Since 2011 USA school supplies
Join WOPA volunteers every summer in collecting backpacks and school supplies for underprivileged inner-city north Jersey students. WOPA have distributed to 6000 backpacks and essential school supplies to students in Paterson, Passaic, Clifton, Prospect Park and West Orange. Volunteers are requested to fill backpacks and be at distribution centers. Backpack assembly will take place at take place in August, call 973-616-5115 for details. Join our volunteers, we sure could use the help.
Passaic County Community College Scholarship Program
In 2008 WOPA gave its first scholarship to a student of Passaic County Community College (PCCC). Since then, every year WOPA has given scholarships including 5 last year to students of PCCC.
School Supplies Distribution, Granada Nicaragua (February 2015)
At the start of the school year for Nicaragua, WOPA distributed school supplies to 626 students of Centro Publico Padre Misieri, a public school for preschool to sixth grade in Granada, Nicaragua. 1,492 notebooks, 2,178 notepads, 2,504 pencils, 626 erasers, 422 pencil sharpeners, 326 rulers, 386 bottles of school glue and 386 boxes of crayons were distributed. Supplies varied by grade level, with each student received approximately $5 worth of supplies.
Annual Backpack and School Supplies Distribution, New Jersey
Starting in August 2012, WOPA has been distributing school supplies for underprivileged kids. Every August WOPA seeks volunteers to help fill the backpacks with school supplies for distribution for inner-city children. Thousands of children have benefited and our donors deserve all the credit. Thank you for assisting WOPA in giving our students a bright start to every school year.
