WOPA recognizes that education is one of the most important factors in providing opportunities that can lift people out of poverty. For this reason, one of our primary goals is to support schools to provide better educational experiences for children who need it most.
Dominican Republic school supplies distribution
July 2016- WOPA proudly supplied backpacks with essential school supplies to 525 students in rural Dominican Republic. Locations included Mata Vieja, Cruces de Esperanza, La Vega, Lomas de Jaya, and Los Cocos. Mr. Juan Tomas Gomez Williams was the on-site leader who personnaly saw to the assembling and distribution to the students. Backpacks included notebooks, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, pens, and bookbags.
Construction of El Centro Juan Pablo II, Nicaragua
In September 2011 WOPA started supporting the construction of El Centro Juan Pablo II in Granada, Nicaragua. When we started working with El Centro Juan Pablo II it was an after-school care program attended by 60 children with the mission of supplementing their public-school education. Upon completing of their own building, El Centro Juan Pablo II became a private school providing free (?) education to 180 (?) children.
Mata Vieja, Dominican Republic School Renovation
School in Ometepe, Nicaragua
Ometepe is a small island community on Lake Nicaragua. In 2014 WOPA gave monetary assistance towards the building of a school, located in an under privilege neighborhood, where the
residents to the area performed the work.
